August 29, 2016, Portland OR—GeekCraft Expo is proud to announce that they are expanding into the Pacific Northwest with GeekCraft Expo Seattle December 10 and 11 at the Seattle Center Pavilion. This curated, geeky craft show—think Etsy-Meets-Comic-Con—was founded by comic book writer Daniel Way (Deadpool, Wolverine: Origins) and will showcase local Seattle-area crafters who create handmade jewelry, plushes, artwork, and more inspired by comics and pop culture. GeekCraft Expo Seattle is family-friendly and free to the public: exhibitors are invited to submit their applications no later than November 18, 2016.
"There’s something about the Pacific Northwest…I dunno, maybe it’s residual pioneer spirit or something. The DIY ethic is just everywhere, in nearly everything. And that’s why we knew—especially after the overwhelming success of the inaugural PDX show last June—that Seattle would be a perfect place to host an event like GeekCraft Expo. Plus, ask any comic book creator like myself what their favorite comic convention is and Emerald City Comicon is either near or at the very top of the list and a big part of that is because Seattle’s geek scene is just…awesome. I mean, the last time I flew into Seattle to visit with my brother the flight attendant (who was from Tacoma) noticed an old Love and Rockets pin on the strap of my bag and we ended up spending over an hour drinking coffee back by the restroom, talking about Maggie and Hopey! How randomly cool is that?"
GeekCraft Expo recently debuted in Portland, OR in June of 2016 to great success, attracting more than 4,500 attendees and partnering with several local organizations and businesses, including Rose City Comic Con and Dark Horse Comics. They’re excited to continue to support the Northwest’s crafting and geek communities in Seattle! The cut-off date for exhibitor applications is November 18, so apply now.
